7-8 mo. development journaling

Dear Mary & Hannah,

You are 8 months old already! Sometimes it seems like only yesterday that we were at the hospital! This stage is so much fun as you learn and do all sorts of things. Here's a recap of your month.
The most exciting thing this month is that you are both getting up on your hands and knees and rocking back and forth. Mary had been doing it since close to Thanksgiving, but Hannah, you're doing it now too! This means you are both getting ready to crawl! Course, you do not have much of an issue getting where you want to be. You'll both scoot, roll, and inch your way to whatever it is that you want. Mary, you will sit on our lap and use your legs to bounce up and down. It's fun and we will sing "Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy" to you when you do it! It makes you smile and do it even more!
Also, we found out some exciting news about you this month. You truely are identical twins! I found a company that did DNA tests for a reasonable price, and ordered the kit. I sent two swabs each with your cheeks cells on it and they analized the DNA from those cells. They came back with results that you have identical DNA, so you are identical twins! We had thought this was the case, but none of your Doctors could tell us for sure without the test. Now we know! According to a couple of sources on the internet, the prevalence of ID twins is a constant 0.4% worldwide (4 out of 1000 births), where natural fraternal twinning prevalence is 1.2% or 12 out of 1000 births.)
You each have two teeth now. Mary's 2nd one came through before Hannah's 2nd (11/22 & 11/27). You love when I brush them during your bath. Course, I sing a funny song about brushing your "toofers!"
You are working on sitting up by yourselves. Hannah, you are closer than Mary at this. You'll sit unassisted for a few seconds, but if you lean too far to reach for something, over you go! You'll both get the hang of it soon, I'm sure.
This month we've tried a variety of meats! We've tried and you've liked turkey, chicken, beef, ham, along with pumkin/pears, blueberries/apples. You are good little eaters, but have cut back on the amount of formula you are taking in your bottles, which is normal.
We've worked at moving your meals more towards the time Daddy and I eat so you'll be ready to eat with us when you're ready. Right now your schedule for the day is roughly:
Get up=6-7am, take a 5-8 oz. bottle for breakfast=7-8am, play= 8-10am, nap=10-12pm, 6-8oz. bottle, and cereal/fruit for lunch=12-1pm, play=1-3, nap=3-4pm, play=4-5pm, meal of 1 jar each of meat,veggie,fruit for supper= 5-6pm, play=6-8pm, bath/bottle and bed starting at 8pm. Generally you're asleep by 9-9:30pm. And if we're lucky, you'll both sleep the night through until 7am, but generally at least one of you will still wake up and cry for me. You tend to get stuck in your cribs... you inch yourselves to the "top" and when you get your head in the corner, you get mad because you can't go anywhere! Hannah, you've regained your title as better sleeper this month as Mary tends to wake up more during the night again.
You are becoming fast friends with our dog, Keri. Given a chance you'll scoot over to her and grab a hunk of fur! You'll both just smile and "talk" to her. She has never acted bothered by this... and sometimes seems to seek you out so you can "love" on her! It's so sweet and I'm sure you'll be great friends as you get older.
Hannah, you've started saying "DaDaDa." I keep trying to make it into "MaMaMa." But, your daddy is proud that you're saying his name! (Even though you're not saying it to him yet!)
You started wearing 6-9 month clothes and are still wearing size 2 diapers this month.
Grammy and Grampy came the Sat. before Thanksgiving, then we celebrated your first Thanksgiving at Aunt Barbies and you saw lots of family. You did fantastic... everyone asked if you even cry! We went shopping the day after Thanksgiving, and again, you did well. The next couple of days home were a little harder since your schedule had been skewed due to the holiday. We put up our Christmas tree and your First Christmas ornaments were the first ones on the tree. You each "helped" me put them up! Admittedly, I hope we get the Christmas tree down before you start to crawl! You also saw your first snow... it didn't stick around very long that morning, nor did we get out in it, but I showed it to you from the window. I'm looking forward to your first Christmas... it will be jam packed with activities and family. But, most of all I'm so glad you both are a part of our family this year!
